Located within the historic Leonardslee House at the heart of our Grade I listed gardens, Restaurant Interlude invites guests to experience a tasting menu that captures the spirit of the estate.
Recently awarded both a MICHELIN Star and a Green MICHELIN Star, the menu is inspired by the surrounding gardens, woodlands, and kitchen gardens. Led by Chef Jean Delport finalist on Great British Menu each dish is a reflection of the land: seasonal, foraged, and artfully composed.
—The Chef
South African-born, Sussex-rooted. Jean Delport leads the kitchen at Interlude with a philosophy of foraging, fermentation and patient seasonality. Every plate begins with the gardens, the woodlands and the kitchen garden beyond the dining-room windows.
A Great British Menu finalist, Jean was instrumental in earning Interlude both a MICHELIN Star and the Green MICHELIN Star recognising not just exceptional cooking, but exceptional sustainability.
A multi-course tasting experience inspired by the gardens, woodlands and kitchen gardens that surround the house. The menu changes with the seasons sometimes with the week. Advance booking is essential.
From the Garden
Opening courses built from what's growing in the kitchen garden picked the same morning, often within sight of the dining room.
From the Woodland
Foraged elements wild garlic, hedgerow herbs, woodland mushrooms composed alongside game, fish or considered vegetarian alternatives.
From the Cellar
Wine pairings drawn from Leonardslee's sparkling library and Benguela Cove's Walker Bay still wines or a non-alcoholic flight curated to match.
The dining room, the gardens, and the dishes that emerge from them.
