Rooted in the Sussex Countryside
Leonardslee Family Vineyards, nestled within one of England's most exciting wine regions. The main vineyard site was planted in 2017 and 2018 with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the classic varieties behind premium Sussex sparkling wine. Our vineyard at Leonardslee House also includes Pinot Noir and a small planting of Pinotage, believed to be the first commercial vines of this South African grape in the UK. Together, these vineyards form the foundation of our English sparkling wine estate with a clear identity rooted in Sussex.
From Estate-Grown Grapes to Award-Winning Sussex Sparkling Wine
Leonardslee's English sparkling wines are crafted from estate-grown grapes and made using the traditional method, with careful bottle ageing bringing depth, texture and finesse. The collection includes Leonardslee Blanc de Blancs 2020, Leonardslee Brut Reserve 2021, and Leonardslee Brut Rosé 2021, each expressing a refined house style shaped by patience and precision. Our Blanc de Blancs, made from 100% Chardonnay, is matured for 48 months to develop elegance and complexity. Our Brut Reserve balances vibrant acidity with 36 months of bottle maturation, while our Brut Rosé brings bright red fruit, freshness and a fine, delicate mousse. These English sparkling wines speaks confidently of Sussex quality and Leonardslee's exacting standards.
Recognition for Quality, Sustainability and Experience
Leonardslee Family Vineyards has already earned notable acclaim within English wine. Our 2021 Brut Reserve won Gold, received 95 points and was named Best Sustainable Wine of Great Britain at the 2025 WineGB Awards. The same wine also received 94 points from the International Wine Challenge and 95 points in Decanter's Vintage English Sparkling Panel Tasting. In 2025, Leonardslee Family Vineyards was also ranked No. 56 in the World's Best Vineyards list, a significant milestone for a Sussex wine estate that launched its first English sparkling wines in 2024. Together, these accolades reinforce Leonardslee's position as a rising name in both Sussex sparkling wine and luxury wine tourism.
